  • Where are you from?/Where is your heritage from? What you do in the US:

I am Lebanese but was born and raised in New York. I work in Finance.

  • What do you love most about your country/heritage?

I love the resilience of our people and our rich history. We have contributed so much to this world and it makes me proud. I also love the food and music and you’ll always find me as part of the Dabke line!

  • Favorite food (and why? Did your Mum, Grandma, Dad make this? What does it remind you of?)

I love Mloukhiye, ma2loubet batenjen and wara2 3einab!

  • Stereotypes of Al-Sham you think need reversing?

That we are culturally so different. We have more in common than we think.

  • An icon from al-Sham that everyone should know about and why?

This is a little cliche but my favorite icon is Fairouz. Growing up, she represented everything about my roots. I always admired how she sang for all our countries and was and still is loved by all. She is a symbol of what I hope to one day see become a reality.
