I am from Damascus, Syria. I moved to NYC in 2012 to do my master degree in Architecture and Urban Design. In 2020 I moved to Washington DC.

• What do you love most about your country/heritage?

I love the history, the architecture, people hospitality , music and art.

• Favorite food (and why? Did your Mum, Grandma, Dad make this? What does it remind you of?)

My favorite food is Yabra2 and kibbeh, my grandma used to make it for us every time we visited.

• Stereotypes of Al-Sham you think need reversing?

They let boarders define who they are!

• An icon from al-Sham that everyone should know about and why?

Habib Kahaleh Syrian writer, the founder and editor of " al Moudhek al Moubki " social, political sarcastic newspaper. He expressed the lavent situation with caricature. His main values were honesty, freedom of speach against sectarianism.
